Edgar Allan Poe

Edgar Allan Poe (1809–1849) was an American writer, poet, editor, and literary critic, best known for his profound influence on the American Romantic Movement and the creation of the modern detective story. Born in Boston, Poe was orphaned at a young age and later adopted by the Allan family of Richmond, Virginia. His literary career began with poetry before he shifted focus to short stories. Poe is particularly famed for his mastery of macabre and gothic narratives, exploring themes of death, the supernatural, and the human psyche with intense emotional clarity. His pioneering approach to horror and mystery has made him one of the most enduring and popular authors in these genres. His work also includes pioneering efforts in science fiction.
